Content length: 8 Chapters

Olivia Summers has one problem: she’s too rich to be taken seriously in love. Harbor City’s favorite heiress drives a Lamborghini, crashes board meetings with chicken soup for her dad, and accidentally does a full split on the marble floor right in front of Ethan Shaw—her father’s infuriatingly hot, ice-cold attorney. He’s everything she shouldn’t touch: razor-sharp, scandal-free, and paid to clean up Summers family messes… not date them. She confesses. He refuses. She flirts. He lawyers up. She blocks the bathroom door to ask if he really thinks she’s “too spoiled, too shiny, too rich” for him. Then a high-stakes legal storm hits Summers Group, family secrets start leaking, and the only way to protect her inheritance—and her heart—is to team up with the one man who keeps saying no. Is Ethan truly not interested, or just too scared to fall for the boss’s daughter?

Chapter One
As a total knockout and everyone’s favorite crush, Olivia Summers had never lacked admirers.
She knew people were not into her because of the way she took her Lamborghini out for a spin, or because she could toss stacks of cash on a table without blinking, or even because she was the only daughter of the Summers Group chairman.
She was convinced they liked her for one simple reason, she was pretty.
Even when she wired someone money and accidentally added an extra zero, that clumsy slip somehow came off as adorable.
In her twenty years of life, Olivia had always had things go her way, she had never really hit a wall, at least not until she met Ethan Shaw.
Around that time, Mr. Summers had just come out of surgery.
He went straight back to the office as soon as he was discharged, and Olivia, trying to be a good daughter, brought him a thermos of homemade chicken soup so he could build his strength back up.
She walked through the sleek, bright lobby of the high-end office tower and, from a distance, saw two men step out of a conference room.
One of them was Alex Trent, her father’s secretary, speaking to the man beside him in his usual polite and professional tone.
The other man wore a perfectly tailored navy suit.
He was tall with a straight posture, sharp brows and clear eyes.
A pair of gold-rimmed glasses rested on a straight nose and gave his whole face a gentle, composed look.
Olivia remembered things she had heard in passing from her uncles and her father’s business friends and, in less than a second, she knew who he was.
Ethan Shaw.
Summers Group’s special legal counsel and her father’s personal attorney.
He was still young yet had already won several textbook-perfect cases.
The boutique firm he co-owned with a friend could rank in the national top tier without question.
With a résumé like that and a face like his, there was no way Olivia was not going to be interested.
Her heart skipped, she tossed her hair, convinced she looked flirty and charming, then hurried toward Ethan.
It was late summer sliding into early fall, the marble floor was a little slick from the humidity, and just as she was about to reach him, her foot slipped.
Right there in front of everyone, she slid straight into a full split on the floor.
Alex stared, completely stunned, the air went painfully awkward for a moment.
Ethan’s face stayed calm, although the corner of his mouth was clearly fighting the hint of a smile.
Olivia wanted to cry.
She met his sharp eyes behind the lenses and forced a weak grin.
"Attorney Shaw, what do you think of my split, pretty impressive, right?"
Ethan said lightly, "Do you want me to clap for you?"
Two office workers walking by clearly could not stand watching the Summers heiress embarrass herself any longer.
They rushed over and helped Olivia up, one on each side.
Alex quickly smoothed over his expression and continued walking with Ethan, escorting him all the way to the doors.
Watching Ethan’s back as he left, Olivia felt her heart thudding hard in her chest.
She thought, how is someone like that even real.
She had this ridiculous urge to hang off his long, strong arm like a kid on a swing.
It did not take her long to find out where Ethan worked and where he lived.
Over the next stretch of time, she started showing up every few days, dropping by with one excuse after another and trying every flirtatious trick she could think of.
He never cracked.
No matter what she did, he stayed cool and distant, completely immune to her charm, which left Olivia unbelievably frustrated.
So when he came back to Summers Group again for another closed-door meeting, she could not hold back anymore and decided to go all in.
Ethan had just finished washing his hands and was about to leave the restroom.
Out of nowhere, a figure stepped in front of him.
Olivia was wearing denim overalls and a loose white T-shirt, her hair pulled up into a messy bun that showed off her neck.
She looked fresh, sweet and very hard to ignore.
She spread her arms and blocked the doorway, tilted her face up to him and smiled, her eyes bright.
"Attorney Shaw, do you really think someone as money-soaked as me is not good enough for someone as proper and refined as you, or is acting so cold just your way of getting my attention?"
"Excuse me." Ethan’s tone was indifferent.
He shifted his body and tried to slip past her on the left, but Olivia moved with him and cut him off.
He sighed inwardly, switched to the right and tried again.
She blocked him a second time.
After a few rounds of this, Ethan finally ran out of patience.
He reached out and wrapped an arm around Olivia’s waist.
Her feet left the ground as he lifted her, turned with her in his arms, and set her down on the inner side of the restroom doorway.
He gave her a look with the faintest raised brow, then adjusted his sleeve and walked away.
Olivia stood frozen at the entrance to the men’s room.
When he had pulled her close, she had caught the clean, soft scent of chamomile on his breath, warm against her ear and the side of her neck.
Her breathing went completely off rhythm, and it felt like someone had flipped a live wire right through her.
