Married by Mistake, Bound by Summer
A graduation trip, a lost wallet, and a shot-glass vow later—Maya wakes up wearing Ethan Cole’s last name. Annulment in 90 days sounds easy, until the will reading demands a “stable family image” for his lighthouse fund… and the only lease she can afford is his spare room.Neighbors call them perfect. Behind doors, they barely talk—until they do. Grocery lists turn into love letters, shared breakfasts into territorial jealousy, and a harmless “practice kiss” into something neither can laugh off. When ex-best friend Nina returns as the gala’s PR lead with a plan to expose their “fake love,” Maya has two choices: annul and survive—or claim what’s hers, husband included.

Chapter 1Lately the internet loved clips of grown sons scooping up their moms and spinning them for the camera.I only had a daughter, so no son to spin me.My friend Nina Brooks laughed and waved her phone, then told her eighteen-year-old son Ethan Cole to pick me up for a take.
The moment his broad, solid hands banded my waist, something hard bumped my thigh."How about it, Maya Reed, want to claim him as yours for the video," Nina teased as she filmed.Heat pricked my skin. My body felt too warm, and there was a dampness I did not want to think about.I cut a quick look at Ethan. His eyes were fixed on my chest. It was a hot day, and I had thrown on a spaghetti-strap dress. Sitting while he stood gave him a perfect view, and my E-cup neckline did nothing to hide that fact. When he realized I was glancing down, he tugged his gray hoodie lower. The wet patch from before was hidden. The fabric still tented.I remembered how he had felt against me when he lifted, and my mouth went dry. I swallowed hard."Maya, you didn’t smile in the clip," Nina said after she hit stop.
"Let’s shoot it again. Ethan is heading back to campus in a few days, do not waste a good take."I started to refuse. "He is still young. I am not sure he has the strength. Maybe we should skip it.""I do," Ethan said, voice low. "I am strong."
He stood there, shy as always, not quite meeting my eyes.
"And I have good stamina," he added, even quieter.I opened my mouth to decline again. Nina caught my hand and towed me right back to Ethan.
"I know my own kid," she said, already opening the camera. "Come on, one more."Ethan bent and lifted me in a clean, solid hold. "I look skinny, but it is all muscle," he murmured near my ear.His palm felt hotter this time where it cupped my waist. When he steadied me, that unyielding pressure found me again. Pleasure chased up my spine like a breeze that cut straight through skin and bone."Maya, smile," Nina called.A sound slipped out of me at the same moment I smiled. I hoped Ethan had not noticed. His grip tightened anyway."Got it, that is enough," Nina said, all business, and lowered the phone. When Ethan set me down, a hollow ache opened, sharp and sudden, as if something had been taken away.In that moment I wanted something solid to press hard and hush it.
